We were nervous and awkward, I think I remember
But we pulled off and undid, and with a last breath
Drifted into each other, with nothing else left
The windows fogged over, the music didn't fit
But from the backseat of my car, I have to admit

I've never been more happy in early September
We were real, I could feel, with my hands on the wheel

This car and each other were all we needed to survive
