The windows fogged over, the music didn't fit
But from the backseat of my car, I have to admit

We were real, I could feel, with my hands on the wheel

Then your parents were worried, after all it was late

Pulled up to your house, fifteen minutes late
The brights were still on, one of many mistakes
"The First Days of Spring" played a little too loud
When you kissed me that Friday, in early September

The night was our friend, so we let it in
But time wasn't welcome inside
